Gongyu: The Lost Village in the Clouds
Gongyu (公盂村) is a hidden gem in the mountains of Zhejiang Province, often called "Eastern China's Shangri-La". The village lies at an altitude of 600 m, surrounded by karst peaks and accessible only on foot (about 2 hours of ascent). No traffic noise — only birdsong, the rustle of bamboo, and mist drifting over the terraced fields.
You will see stone houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties, locals still living a traditional lifestyle, vast rice terraces that change color from green to golden depending on the season. And best of all, you will ascend to the Gongyu Peak viewpoint (公盂岩), offering a fantastic view of the sea of clouds and endless mountains. An ideal spot for photographers and those seeking solitude.
