Lingqi Caves

Lingqi Caves (灵栖洞) are a unique karst complex in Jiande County (Zhejiang Province), just 3.5–4 hours from Shanghai. Three amazing caves: Lingquan (with an underground river and boat ride), Qingfeng (with constant wind and unique flowstone formations), and Lingqi (the main cave with giant stalactites and stalagmites). The temperature inside the caves stays around 15–17°C year-round — an ideal place to visit at any time of year.

What awaits you: You will take a boat ride along the underground river in Lingquan Cave, see the intricate stalactite formations in Qingfeng Cave, and in the main Lingqi Cave you will be amazed by the scale and beauty of the multi-meter stalactites illuminated by colorful lights. What to expect

  • Meeting and transfer — we will pick you up from Xinzhuang metro station in Shanghai and head to scenic Jiande County (建德) in a comfortable car.
  • Lingquan Cave (灵泉洞) — the first cave with an underground river. You will take a boat ride on crystal-clear water, temperature around 17°C.
  • Qingfeng Cave (清风洞) — the second cave where cool wind blows year-round. Air temperature around 15°C. Here you will see intricate flowstone formations and stalactites.
  • Lingqi Cave (灵栖洞) — the main cave of the complex. Huge halls with multi-meter stalactites and stalagmites, illuminated by colorful lights.
  • Route length — the total length of the caves is about 1.5 km. Walking through all three caves takes about 2–3 hours.
  • Lunch at an authentic restaurant — after visiting the caves, we will go to a local restaurant where you can try Zhejiang cuisine: fresh fish from the Qiantang River, tofu, and local vegetables.
  • Walk around the surroundings — if desired, you can take a stroll through the scenic area around the caves, enjoying the mountains and green valleys.
  • Flexible itinerary — the guide will adjust the program to your pace and wishes.
  • Return to Shanghai — after a full day, we will take you back to the metro station.

~10:30 Arrival at Lingqi Caves. Briefing, ticket purchase. We recommend bringing a light jacket — it's cool in the caves.
10:45 – 13:00 Visit to three caves (about 2–2.5 hours). Visit Lingquan Cave (boat), Qingfeng Cave (wind), and Lingqi Cave (stalactites). Photo session along the route.
13:00 – 14:30 Lunch at a local restaurant. Try Zhejiang cuisine: fish from the Qiantang River, tofu, seasonal vegetables.
14:30 – 15:30 Additional program (optional) – walk through the scenic surroundings or visit local attractions. Possible to visit an observation deck with a view of the valley, take a walk through a bamboo grove, or stop by a tea plantation.
15:30 Gather and start the return trip to Shanghai. Depart to return with a comfortable time margin.
~19:30 – 20:00 Arrival in Shanghai. You will be taken to Xinzhuang metro station.

  • Dress warmly: temperature in the caves is around 15–17°C year-round. Bring a light jacket or sweater.
  • Comfortable shoes: paths in the caves can be damp, choose non-slip footwear.
  • Camera: the caves are well lit, but for best shots a camera with good sensitivity is recommended.
  • Additional expenses: entrance ticket to the caves (~100–120¥), lunch (~80–100¥), boat in Lingquan Cave (included in ticket).
