Nanxijiang: river, ancient villages and sail‑shaped peak
Nanxijiang (楠溪江) is a scenic area in Zhejiang Province, known as the “cradle of Chinese landscape poetry”. A crystal‑clear river stretching 140 km, more than 200 ancient villages from the Song and Ming dynasties, and majestic cliffs – all await you on a two‑day journey from Shanghai.
You will walk through the villages of Furong and Cangpo, which have preserved their thousand‑year‑old layout and architecture, ride a bamboo raft on the turquoise river, climb the Shiguiyan Peak (石桅岩) that resembles a sail, and taste real village cuisine.

- Day 1: Departure from Shanghai (07:00) – comfortable car, road 5–6 hours with stops.
- Arrival in Nanxijiang, lunch – traditional cuisine of Yongjia County.
- Walk through the ancient villages of Furong and Cangpo – stone bridges, old houses, ancestral temples. Song and Ming dynasty architecture.
- Bamboo raft ride – floating on the crystal‑clear river, panoramic views of cliffs and greenery.
- Overnight in a traditional guesthouse – cosy hotel in Ming‑style architecture.
- Day 2: Breakfast, visit to Shiguiyan Peak (石桅岩) – walk along the eco‑trail, ascent to the sail‑shaped peak (about 1 hour). View of the river and mountain ranges.
- Lunch in a village at the foot of the mountain – tasting of local delicacies.
- Optional: Nine cascades at Shimen Terrace (九漈石门台) – scenic cascade of nine waterfalls (time depends on your wishes).
- Return to Shanghai – arrival in the evening (around 20:00).
