Sheshan: Bamboo Picking ✨ seasonal tour
Sheshan (佘山) is a national forest park just half an hour's drive from Shanghai. Here you will find beautiful bamboo groves, an ancient Catholic basilica and an astronomical observatory. But the main attraction is the unique opportunity to harvest young bamboo shoots with your own hands!
🎋 18th Sheshan Bamboo Culture Festival
The annual festival takes place in spring, in 2026 — from March 29 to April 13.
Two daily sessions: at 9:30 and 13:00.
Venues: Dayushan Park and East Sheshan.
The program includes bamboo picking, food tasting, bamboo dances, as well as exhibitions and workshops on bamboo crafts: carving, weaving ornaments and much more.
Why you should try it: it's a trendy activity that will give you dozens of atmospheric photos and a gastronomic experience. Freshly picked bamboo can be immediately cooked in a local restaurant or taken home as a green souvenir. The tour is available only in spring and autumn – during the harvest season.
