Mount Zoumagang — "Horse Ridge"
Picturesque massif in Zhuji city district (Zhejiang province). Legend has it that the horses of ancient emperors galloped here. Today it is an ideal place for trekking: bamboo forests, mountain streams, waterfalls and views of terraced tea fields.
Important: The trails are rocky, with some steep climbs. Comfortable trekking shoes and good physical condition are recommended. Be sure to take water and snacks. Rhododendrons bloom from April to June.
Zhuji (Zoumagang): trekking to the Horse Ridge
Mount Zoumagang (诸暨走马岗) 585 m high is located in the scenic Zhuji area, known for its tea plantations and bamboo forests. The name translates as "Horse Ridge" — according to legend, war horses were trained here during the Tang dynasty. The route is ideal for a one‑day trek from Shanghai.
Tour program: hike to Zoumagang ridge (11 km, 550 m elevation gain), visit Longtan Waterfall, walk through the ancient Zhaojia village, tea tasting. Route of moderate difficulty, suitable for active tourists without special training.

- Departure from Shanghai (07:00) — meeting at Xinzhuang metro station, 3 hours drive (250 km) to Zhuji city. The guide will tell about the history of the region.
- Arrival at the trailhead (10:00) — buying tickets (≈60¥), restroom, preparation for trekking.
- Ascent to the ridge (10:30–12:00) — path through bamboo forest, first viewpoints with valley views.
- Traversing the Zoumagang ridge (12:00–13:30) — best panoramas: tea terraces, mountain peaks, obligatory photo session.
- Lunch (13:30–14:00) — hot meal at a village restaurant (≈80¥).
- Longtan Waterfall (14:30–15:30) — visit to a 30‑meter waterfall, swimming in warm season.
- Ancient Zhaojia village (15:30–16:30) — walk along stone streets, tea tasting.
- Departure to Shanghai (17:00) — return with one sanitary stop.
- Arrival in Shanghai (~20:30) — drop‑off at Xinzhuang metro station.

💡 Important notes for trekking on Zoumagang:
- Route moderate difficulty, suitable for physically fit beginners.
- Footwear — trekking boots with good grip. Trainers are not suitable!
- Water: 1.5‑2 litres per person (no shops on the route).
- We recommend taking trekking poles, raincoat, windbreaker, headlamp.
