Xianqiao Cave β€” a fairytale world wrapped in the Tyndall light

Underground halls, stalactites, and a unique adventure park near Hangzhou

Xianqiao Cave – an underground kingdom of light and shadow

A trip with children to Xianqiao Cave in Hangzhou is a true adventure that will be remembered for a long time. The Tyndall effect (scattering of light in dusty or humid air) creates incredible light paintings here: sunbeams pierce the cool air of the grottoes, illuminating stalactites and stalagmites with a mysterious glow. Kids are thrilled by such a magical atmosphere, and parents get unique photos worthy of a magazine cover.

Route and main highlights of the cave

  1. Entrance with Tyndall effect: sunbeams break through the bamboo grove, creating ideal conditions for photos.
  2. "Eye of the Sky": from 12:00 to 13:00, light falls vertically – you can take a picture "floating" in the air.
  3. Walk through the cave: stalactites, stalagmites, stone waterfalls illuminated by colored lights.
  4. Abyss Corridor: on the spiral staircase, using the reflection of the walls, you can get mystical shots (no flash).
  5. Mirror of the underground river: at the bend of the river, the water reflects the vaults – after turning, the photo creates an "infinite abyss" effect.
πŸ“Έ Photo tip

Bring a small external light (flashlight or on-camera light) β€” it's quite dark inside, and additional lighting will make your pictures sharp.

Adventure park at the exit

After exploring the cave, be sure to stay at the outdoor adventure park:

  • "Magic Sinkhole Net" β€” walk on a net over a 68-meter abyss.
  • "Rafting on the Fairy Bridge" β€” descent along a 990 m glass chute through the bamboo forest.
  • "Jungle Trekking" β€” obstacle course for the whole family (tests agility and endurance).

Note: some attractions have height restrictions. Please check on site.
